After her first molt reveals red feathers symbolic of a curse, Lindsey Raniero of the Eagle Clan is shunned by her family and dies alone. She awakens in the past, only 7 years old. Wishing to escape her fate, Lindsey takes her bird form to run away and makes a deal with the rival Wolf Clan: She will wed their ailing heir and heal him with her clan's power in exchange for their protection.
