Selected as the top orphan of his institution in the 1910s, Benjamin Walsh received years of private patronage and warm correspondence from Sonny Davies. Guided by those cherished letters, Benjamin travels to the city as a grown man to reconnect with his savior. However, the real Sonny Davies is nothing like his written persona. Reckless, sharp-tongued, and notoriously troublesome, Sonny challenges everything Benjamin believed about him. As Benjamin gets swept into Sonny’s messy life, he learns that reading between the lines of their shared past holds the key to an unexpected future.
